Echoing both the work of John Cassavetes and Stanley Donen’s Two for the Road, Blue Valentine is a wrenching portrait of a relationship's dissolution, starring Oscar-nominees Gosling and Williams. Director Cianfrance’s second feature (his critically-lauded debut Brother Tied was made over ten years ago and never commercially released) premiered at Sundance before being selected for Cannes’ Un Certain Regard and features an original score by Grizzly Bear.
