Blood Sugar Sex Machine is a tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers and started in spring of 2007 by Mike Osborn and Jrod under the name Mothers Milk. In early 2008, B.S.S.M. recruited singer/emcee Rahman Jamaal and guitar player Aidan Young.
