Blessing of the Animals October 9, 2010

The public is invited to bring their animals - big, small, live, photos and stuffed - to Cascade Playground in Seattle on Oct. 9, 2010, to have them blessed by clergy from Providence Hospice of Seattle and Immanuel Lutheran Congregation in honor of St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Providence Hospice of Seattle Chaplain Maggie Finley and Immanuel Lutheran Congregation Pastor Susan Vanhoy Burchfield will bless the animals at the playground, located at 333 Pontius Ave. N. in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood. If it rains, the blessing will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Congregation, 1215 Thomas St., across the street from the playground. Animals are welcome on a leash or in carriers.
