Mason/Rhynes Productions partners with Dance Place to present Black Expressions: Dance Place. Black Expressions continues to combine groundbreaking artists from across the country with outstanding local talent. This event pairs Urban Bush Women veteran Christal Brown and her New York based company INSPIRIT with one of Dance Magazine's “Top 25 to Watch” and DC based, Princess Mhoon Cooper.
Princess Mhoon Cooper’s performances have been seen throughout the US, Canada, Cuba, the Netherlands, and Osaka, Japan. She currently serves on staff at Howard University in the Department of Theatre Arts and has taught and choreographed nationally and internationally. She is well versed in modern, hip-hop, jazz, ballet and African dance forms. Princess Mhoon Cooper is the co-founder and co-curator of This Woman’s Work: Black Women Choreographers of the Next Generation, a critically acclaimed dance concert series dedicated to presenting the work of African-American women choreographers. INSPIRIT is a performance ensemble that combines the time and talents of African-American female artists in Washington, DC, New York and North Carolina. Company founder and artistic director Christal Brown has an extensive performance history, having tourerd with Chuck Davis' African-American Dance Ensemble, Andrea E. Woods/Souloworks, Gesel Mason Performance Projects, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance company and Urban Bush Women.

$20 general admission; $15 members, students, teachers (PreK-12), professional artists & seniors; $7 for children 17 & under
