Biznik Bowling for Food & Dollars Food Bank Food Drive February 12, 2009

One thing (of the many) Portland, Oregon Biznik-ers share is a sense of collaboration and spirit of giving -- not just at holiday time, but all-year long. We LOVE to help one another (and others)!


In that same spirit, let's begin 2009 with a (bowling) blow-out bang (I think they call that a Strike....or maybe a Turkey!)!


About 200,000 Oregonians eat meals from an emergency food box every month, 36% of whom are children. Join us on February 12, 2009 as we bowl for dollars and for food to support the mission of the Oregon Food Bank, "... because no one should be hungry."


No matter if you're not a (good) bowler (Think you're bad? Wait till you see me bowl!); it's all about connection, community-building, and giving back.


Interstate Lanes is giving Biznik a significant discount on 3 games (and is including the
bowling shoes!). This means we get to donate the balance of the proceeds from your cash donation to the Oregon Food Bank.


Biznik networking, bowling, and helping the Oregon Food Bank all at the same time? Who can resist that kind of fun?


So break out your debit or credit card and RSVP for the Biznik Bowling for Food & Dollars Food Bank Food Drive today. We'll have boxes to collect food, so remember to bring a nonperishable item or two to add.


Below is a list of the kinds of food the Food Bank can/cannot accept:

Most wanted foods

Oregon Food Bank needs these nutritious foods:

• canned meats (i.e., tuna, chicken, salmon)


• canned and boxed meals (i.e., soup, chili, stew, macaroni
  and cheese)


• peanut butter


• canned or dried beans and peas (i.e., black, pinto, lentils)


• pasta, rice, cereal


• canned fruits


• 100 percent fruit juice (canned, plastic or boxed)

Oregon Food Bank can't use:

To ensure food safety, we cannot use:

• rusty or unlabeled cans


• perishable items


• homemade items


• noncommercial canned or packaged items


• alcoholic beverages, mixes or soda


• open or used items

via email or by phone (360-746-0922) to arrange delivery or pick up of your foodstuffs, checks, or cash.
