Topic: Bi-State II Tax Forum

Speakers for and against the proposed Bi-State II tax will attend our October 14 meeting.

The Bi-State II entertainment tax is not simply a reinstatement of the Bi-State 1 tax. Bi-State I paid for a public building for public benefit only, within a specific time frame. However, as an open-ended tax, Bi-State II can easily go above $1.4 billion and last for 15 or more years.

There are many questions about the funding of the sports and arts projects in Bi-State II that have yet to be answered. For instance, why does Bi-State II plan contribute over 90% of the funds needed for stadium improvements, but the team owners have no financial liability to the taxpayers? We need to understand what our tax dollars are paying for.

Our door prize will be a pair of tickets to the Unicorn Theater.
