San Francisco, California

Bay Area birders and photographers, let's meet at Crissy Field in San Francisco on January 26th for an afternoon of birdwatching and nature photography.

Many migratory shorebirds come to the San Francisco Bay for the winter, making this a good time for birding and photography. There are other things to see too: sailboats, kites, dogs romping in the surf, and maybe the guy who piles up rocks in a most amazing balancing act.

Let's meet at 1 pm at the Crissy Field Center at 603 Mason Street, facing the field across from the tidal marsh. We'll meander towards the Warming Hut (which recently reopened) and thaw out there at 4-ish. Going out to dinner afterwards would be fun, if anybody wants to suggest a venue.

Non-experts are welcome! Bring binoculars as well as camera gear, and field guides are helpful too.

Note: RAIN CANCELS THIS MEETUP. If it rains we'll* try to reschedule another weekend pronto.

*Your hostesses: rtha, gingerbeer, and Quietgal.
