BINGAI

Film Screening and discussion with director Feng Yan

MoCA, People's Park

Wednesday June 25th, 6.30 pm (Film starts 7pm)

Bingai is a touching, highly personal story of one woman's struggle to save her home from the rising waters of the Yangtze River, following the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. One of more than a million people in the Yangtze Valley required to move to make way for the giant project, farmer Zhang Bingai steadfastly refused to leave her native village – and waged a seven year campaign to persuade local officials to allow her and her family to remain on the land where their roots lie. Director Feng Yan will be present at the screening to discuss the story.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to help cover Zhang Bingai's relocation costs.
