Hardly a day goes by without copyright hitting the headlines. But what is copyright? Can you own an idea? Do creators have an obligation to share their ideas for the benefit of society? Is copyright ‘theft’ a victimless crime?

Clare Churly, Managing Editor at a publishing house and consumer of copyright materials, introduces the legal and philosophical ideas surrounding copyright and looks at some of the debates that arise from them.

As ever, the event is open to the public and admission is free. There will be a short talk but the main focus of the evening will be free, open-ended discussion accompanied by copious libations.
