CHICAGO – Join Sarah Susanka, author of The Not So Big House, in a lecture about how architects are inspired and how their designs affect the world around them. Susanka, whose philosophy is “build better, not bigger,” will discuss important aspects of Frank Lloyd Wright’s mastery that are rarely recognized but are at the core of his work's power to inspire us.

Susanka, a best-selling author, architect and cultural visionary, is leading a movement that is redefining the American home. Her "build better, not bigger" approach to residential design has been embraced across the country and her "Not So Big" philosophy has sparked international dialogue. Many of Susanka’s concepts reflect a modern interpretation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s design ideas.

As a leading advocate for the repopularization of residential architecture, Susanka has improved the quality of home design while countering the elitist image of architects so commonly held by the public. At the conclusion of the lecture Ms. Susanka will conduct a question and answer segment with members of the audience. She will also sign copies from her “Not So Big” book series. Books will be available for purchase at the event and Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust members can use their 10 percent discount.

Presented by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust as the inaugural At Home series event, the Susanka lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on September 17 at the School of the Art Institute's Ballroom, 112 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago. Admission is $20 for Preservation Trust members, $25 for non-members and tickets may be purchased at GoWright.org or at the door.
