Benjamin Bagby's Beowulf November 10, 2008

This is a solo performance of the monumental sixth century Anglo-Saxon epic 'Beowulf,' by the co-founder of the early music ensemble Sequentia, Benjamin Bagby. Accompanying himself on a copy of an ancient lyre in the manner of the medieval bard, the performer portrays dozens of characters in the original Old English with a modern translation using surtitles.
