Steep Productions and the California Film Institute (CFI) are proud to present a benefit screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary The Cove. The film tells the amazing true story of how an elite team of activists, filmmakers and free divers embarked on a covert mission to penetrate a hidden cove in Japan, shining light on a dark and deadly secret. The shocking discoveries they uncovered were only the tip of the iceberg. Screening includes a Q&A with world-renowned Marine Mammal Specialist (Animal Planet, Blood Dolphins) Ric O'Barry and the Film’s Director Louie Psihoyos, eco-activist Leilani Munter (sister in law of Bob Weir) and a special performance by the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir. This is a benefit for the Earth Island Institute/Save Japan Dolphins which encourages activism around environmental issues and provides public education. Funds from this event will support Earth Island Institute’s campaign to promote eco-tourism in Japan as an alternative to the killing of whales and dolphins.
