Carl Davis: Ben-Hur (film score), conductor

A story of human conflict and godly redemption set at the height of the Roman Empire, Ben-Hur remains one of the greatest examples of action shooting in cinematic history, with an assembly of stars that was unprecedented.

Fred Niblo's 1925 silent film is accompanied with Carl Davis' score: a sumptuous orchestral roller-coaster ride and remarkable musical reflection of the epic efforts of the film-makers, performed live on stage by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The performance lasts two hours and 40 minutes including an interval.

Royal Festival Hall at 6.15pm: Carl Davis talks about his musical score for Ben-Hur. Admission free.
