Ben Heppner has it all: a “lean, burnished and powerful voice,” “raw emotional fervor,” and “scrupulous” musicianship (The New York Times). He’s an operatic tenor for this millennium with hefty low notes and a ringing upper range. A muscular singer on meaty roles in works by Mozart, Verdi, and Mahler at New York’s Metropolitan Opera and La Scala in Milan and on the Olympic anthem at the Closing Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics, he is also a two-time Grammy winner.

In 2002 and 2007, he delighted Great Hall audiences with Schumann’s art songs and awed with his commanding embodiment of Wagner’s great heroes. His “pliant and lyrical” phrasing (The New York Times), warm intelligence, and gracious stage presence will be a most fitting conclusion to the Great Hall Series this season.
