Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Bearfoot is a fast-rising quintet on the acoustic music scene, featuring powerful, emotive vocals, moving arrangements and instrumental excellence. Their repertoire ranges from the band's original contemporary acoustic songs to fast paced instrumentals to arrangements of traditional tunes evoking the high lonesome sounds of Bill Monroe. Their unique blend of Americana is a potpourri of jazz, blues, bluegrass, and oldtime Appalachian music.

Instrumentally, they are driven by fast picking mandolin (Jason Norris) and guitar (Mike Mickelson), accented by twin fiddles (Angela Oudean and Annalisa Tornfelt), and held down by solid acoustic bass work (Kate Hamry).

Bearfoot has toured extensively in the US, Canada and Ireland playing concerts and festivals. In 2001, they won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, joining such other notable winners as The Dixie Chicks and Nickel Creek, the later of whom they have been compared to for their fresh new sound. They have performed at such prestigious festivals as Greyfox, Strawberry Festival, Rockygrass and The Festival at Sandpoint, where they opened for Lyle Lovett.

In their seven year career they have gone from a teenage band of music camp councilors to seasoned professionals with 3 recordings to their credit, Only Time Knows (2001), Back Home (2003) produced by Grammy Award winner Todd Phillips, and Follow Me (2007), produced by Grammy Award winner Gene Libbea.

"Great fiddling, snappy mandolin and guitar picking, all with a youthful sound. Led by some truly great singing... this Alaska quintet manages to sound both fresh and polished." – Country Music Today
