BC Hydro's site C open house November 5, 2008

Protest at or attend the BC Hydro's site C open house. Site C involves flooding the Peace river valley and thus destroying prime agricultural land (the only class 1 soil north of Quesnel) and wildlife habitat (over 200 species at risk). 5300 ha. of land will be flooded. BC Hydro wants you to believe that BC is a power hungry province and that we need site C but their own 2007 annual report does not support this. The majority of the imports are purchased at cheap prices in order to export to the states at peak prices for profit. Don't let them destroy a river valley to satisfy the energy demands of the states. The domestic demand could be satisfied through conservation and by alternative 'green' power sources such as geothermal, wind, solar, and tidal. Check back here again for more information.
