BAY AREA CAPITAL CONNECTIONS I: INVESTMENT AND BUSINESS RESOURCES FOR INNER CITY COMPANIES

A conference for African American led companies, start-ups, and entrepreneurs located in Bay Area urban core areas that seek angel, venture, or debt capital for rapid growth and expansion.

This 1-day event provides critical information and resources to rapidly expanding companies with innovative, scalable business models, for accessing equity and/or debt capital. Workshop sessions include angel investing, venture capital investing in inner cities, debt capital for acquisitions/mergers, building management teams, developing marketing strategies, and valuations/exits. An investment panel will hear selected company pitches for equity or debt. Continental breakfast, lunch, and networking reception included. The conference is part of a larger $175 million effort called the Bay Area Family of Funds, created by the Bay Area Council, which is a regional effort to attract private capital into underserved neighborhoods.

"Both the African American community and the venture capital community are foundational parts of the Bay Area's history and key to its modern day success, yet many feel that increased interaction between the two would create impressive mutual benefits," said Joseph Gross, Conference Committee Chairman. "Our goal is to facilitate that interaction at this historic conference."

"This conference is a fantastic networking opportunity both for entrepreneurs in our urban centers, as well as investors interested in making a difference and a return through double bottom line investing." Tim Hoxie, Heller Ehrman LLP
