Basstown is proud to present 2007's most acclaimed music at one of Boston's most beloved venues. Monday, July 16th Allston's Great Scott will host the music of The Field, live and direct from Stockholm, Sweden.

The Field is one man, Axel Willner, who lives in the Swedish capital and makes beautifully lush dance music. Willner splices his favorite songs into unregonizable shards then builds triumphant dance music from the remains. His debut release on Germany's Kompakt label, From Here We Go Sublime, has achieved almost universal acclaim, becoming the Best Reviewed album of the year so far. A link to the album is below.

Willner will be playing this music live July 16th at Great Scott. It will be his third appearance in the U.S., just after Pitchfork Media's music festival and in advance of his show at NBew York City's Studio B.

Opening for Willner will be three different acts. Matters & Dunaway, the long-surviving duo of Thomas Gallagher and André Obin play a tight, energetic music with bass, drums and a laptop. Obin's dexterity on the bass guitar can hardly be matched, while Thomas Gallagher's drumming is nearly robotic. M&D was recently signed up by Ghostly sub-label Moodgadget. Baltimoroder has been recognized by the Boston Phoenix as one of our best DJs. As a member of the dynamite Hearthrob team, Baltimoroder spins his own remixes and reedits to swooning clubgoers up and down the east coast. His music can be downloaded at his MySpace account. DJ Die Young is one of the new breed of DJs in Boston, spinning sets of dancefloor euphoria from River Gods to Lansdowne and back again.

All will be supported by visuals from BloodSugar, the video production team most known for their work with the Hearthrob party. BloodSugar has a special plans for The Field.
