Robby will give an overview of the Slackware linux distribution, to include general characteristics and philosophy as well installation of additional software on Slackware systems. This will include coverage of issues with using /usr/local, replacing stock packages, compatibility with existing packages, Slackware packaging standards, using (and writing) SlackBuild scripts, and the SlackBuilds.org project in general.

Presenter:
Robby Workman is a middle school physical science teacher in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (USA), where he lives with his wife and daughter. He has been using Unix-like operating systems since late 2004 and likes to spend most of his free time on computers... :) He is a member of the Slackware core team, and he is one of the founders of SlackBuilds.org, an "almost official" repository of build scripts for additional software on Slackware.
