Johnson won “2009 Jazz Artist of the Year” at the recent 5th Annual South Bay Music Awards in Southern California. Additionally, the talented musician has been selected as one of only six Finalists to compete in the “6th Annual Capital Jazz Challenge,” taking place Friday, June 5 in Columbia, MD. The competition is part of the Capital Jazz Festival, Friday June 5 through Sunday June 7, 2009. Grand Prize is $5,000 and a 30-minute slot on the main stage to perform on Sunday afternoon.
