Safety and congestion are the two biggest problems on our roads today. That's why lots of research and planning is going into the vision of cars talking to each other and traffic lights. If the industry does it right, many of the 33,000 annual US auto deaths and much of the 3 billion gallons of fuel wasted in traffic could be saved. And actually, it's right around the corner - we could see it come out as early as 2015. Today's meeting will talk about vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2x), along with various government and industry-sponsored research programs and new products and services. Much of the enabling technology is available, so our discussion will focus on products and services that are implementing and relying on this short-range communication, and as always we include several start-up demos to supplement the perspective of major vendors and OEMs. Meeting sponored by Texas Instruments. http://www.ti.com/
