Come to the Museum to celebrate National Astronomy Day. Learn more about the nature of your universe through demonstrations, exhibits and hands-on activities for the whole family.

Activities include: shows in the Shafran Planetarium, learning about the night sky inside the kid-sized Starlab portable planetarium; demonstrations to learn how to grind your own telescope mirror; tours of the Ralph Mueller Observatory to learn how to observe the Sun safely (weather permitting).

In the Smead Discovery Center, play “Survivor Mars” and “Martian Bingo,” and examine rocks that resemble those found on Mars; make your own sundial, star chart and Moon phases activity; take an astronomy quiz to win a prize; enter to win your very own telescope, the Meade ETX 80 AT, or the national grand prize, the fully automated Meade LX200R. Free with Museum admission.

Admission fees are: $9 adults; $7 ages 7-18, college students with IDs and senior citizens; $6 children 3-6 years of age; free children 2 and under.
