Abstract:
Quality and Social Responsibility
As businesses, government and the general public become more sensitive to issues of social responsibility, ASQ and the quality community has an opportunity to play a greater role in aligning quality and social responsibility. With the release of the ISO 26000 standard on social responsibility, to be released in the fall of 2010, SR guidelines will now have a global reach. Organizations that are struggling to convey their efforts to act and do business with consideration of their social responsibility programs can utilize quality tools to enact these initiatives. In this presentation, attendees will learn the connection between quality and SR, hear how quality principles can be used to promote socially responsible efforts, and find out what initiatives ASQ headquarters is working on to promote social responsibility.
