"A Stone's Throw follows the dramatic story of JACK WALKER (Kris Holden-Ried), an American photojournalist whose work exposes the exploitation of nature by industry. When Jack shows up unannounced on his sister's doorstep in rural Nova Scotia, it soon becomes clear that he is much more desperate than he chooses to reveal. His sister, OLIVIA (Kathryn MacLellan), and fifteen year-old nephew, THOMAS (Aaron Webber), haven't seen him in years. Everything about her brother's reappearance upsets Olivia's carefully constructed life, forcing the siblings to reopen wounds from the troubled past they share. Jack's eco-activist example inspires his young nephew to take action in his hometown, prompting Thomas to begin pursuing an investigation into the potential health risks caused by a local paint-manufacturing plant. The emotional and physical stakes escalate for Thomas as his uncle's influence inadvertently sets the passionate youth on his own collision course with fate. At the same time, Jack's unspoken need for human connection finds a willing match in Olivia's close friend, LIA (Lisa Ray), a single mother and kindergarten teacher at the local Waldorf School. Yet just as the two lovers begin to find peace and happiness in each other's arms, Jack's recent and illegal actions south of the border catch up with him, forcing him to look more truthfully at his past and the tragic consequences of acting blindly."
