Ten-Hour Art-Making Marathon to Support ArtSeed's Youth Programs

ArtSeed invites people of all ages and skill levels to test their creative art-making endurance at its exciting 2011 Third Annual ArtSeed Art-a-thon sponsored by Pamakid Runners. With every hour spent making art, participants will raise funds to support ArtSeed's education programs.

Art-a-thoners are welcome to come any time and stay for any duration during the ten-hour marathon. Participants may work on their own projects or take advantage of the expert guidance and supplies provided. Throughout the day there will be live music, refreshments, and guest artist appearances. The event will culminate in a festive presentation of artwork made that day, with prizes awarded in several categories.

Participants are asked to register and collect pledges for each hour they create art. Pledges of any amount are welcome. An optional $15 registration fee is suggested to help offset the cost of supplies and refreshments. To register, visit http://www.artseed.org. A celebration will close the day's work, 7-8 pm.

Funds raised will support scholarships for Bayview Hunters Point youth and other disadvantaged youngsters to participate in ArtSeed's year-round Apprenticeship Program and the Summer Fine Arts Intensive Monday June 27- Friday July 1, 9 am-5pm.

Selections of Art-a-thon-produced work will be exhibited at ArtSeed's Hunters Point Shipyard Spring Open Studio 11am-6pm Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1, 2011. Artwork from ArtSeed's Summer Intensive will be on display at the Presidio's Thoreau Center Corridor Gallery the entire month of July. The free public reception for this event is to be announced.
