Artists Repertory Theatre celebrates the public unveiling of its renovated theater campus with an Artists Party Open House, Monday September 10th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The event will take place throughout the block between Alder and Morrison on SW 15th. It is free to the public thanks to the sponsorship of the Willamette Week - some come join us!.

This easygoing block party for the creative class will feature a Poetry Open Mic on the Mainstage, an Acoustic Open Mic on the Second Stage, and a gallery exhibit in both lobbies featuring 25 artists from Portland Open Studios. Complimentary drinks and treats will be available on both levels throughout the party, with djs spinning in the lobby and a projection slideshow on Artists Rep's newly christened semi-circular exterior entrance wall.

The Poetry Open Mic will begin at 7:00 pm and be hosted by Tommy Gaffney, a Artists Rep House Manager and published poet, who will be inviting up to 30 poets from the local Open Mic circuit, including poets from the Alberta Street Anthology. There will be four featured readers, including Portland legend Dennis McBride and local actor Randy Patterson, who will preview a section of his one-man show on the work of Charles Bukowski. Open Mic sign-up will begin at 6:00 pm and all participants will be entered to win a variety of prizes from Artists Rep season tickets to journals, bookstore gift certificates or a jaunty beret.

The Acoustic Open Mic will begin at 6:30 pm and will have featured performances from Portland musicians representing a variety of genres, instruments, and musical styles, all curated by Willamette Week's music editor. Sign up will begin at 6 pm in the Second Stage.
