Lisa Orgler of Huxley, Iowa, creates bright and humorous designs out of ordinary, everyday objects. Pulling together wood, fabric, paint and various 3-D treasures, Lisa makes the mundane beautiful, witty and intelligent. She works to delight the senses with color, texture and humor. This occurs through the use of playful objects and intricate patterns all while revealing amusing insights and relationships.

Final works include paintings, furniture, purses and cards. Some of her signature pieces are reversible handbags created out of outdated upholstery fabric samples and passé belts – transforming the bags from out-of-date to avant-garde. Lisa has her Bachelor and Master degrees in Landscape Architecture and works full-time at Reiman Gardens.

Lisa will be in the Octagon Shop in Ames on Thursday, September 28 from 6-8 pm demonstrating her whimsical sewing techniques on cards, wallets and handbags. You’ll receive 15% off her work during September.
