Bees are responsible for pollinating 30% of our food crops. If they become extinct-much of the world's food supply will disapear with them. There is a worldwide crisis due to CCD (colony collapse disorder). In response, Fort Greene Park's Artisan Market is presenting a wildflower seed give-away for plants favored by foraging honey bees. Thousands of seed packets are being provided by Haagen Dazs as part of their "Help the Honey Bee" campaign. Local beekeeper, John Howe of Brooklyn Bee Apiary, will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions you may have about bees and their role as part of our ecosystem. There will also be an educational graphic presentation of images and text about bees and other plant-pollinating insects plus an active beehive presented, safely under glass, for the curious. Since this date coincides with "Make Music New York" there will also be a live music stage just inside the park with performances starting at noon and continuing till 4pm.

Artisan-Market, featuring only independent design and fine art, "you'll find no fleas here", can be reached by public transportation via: subways: #C to Lafayette, #G to Fulton, #R,B,Q to DeKalb and #2,3,4,5 to Nevins. Map and travel information is also available on both the Fort Greene Park and Artisan-Market websites.
