William Pope.L is a visual and performance-theatre artist and educator who makes culture out of contraries. A graduate of the Mason Gross School at Rutgers University, he has been producing multi-disciplinary performance and installation works since the 1970s. A show at the Whitney Biennial and the nationally-touring retrospective eRacism, both in 2002, inaugurated an increasing surge of interest in his diverse and provocative works. His most recent project, The Black Factory, is at once a digital project, a traveling caravan, a social service, and a community-based public art intervention. Pope.L teaches in the Department of Theatre and Rhetoric at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Part of Art Creates Change, presented by the Faculty of Art, made possible through the generous support of the Musagetes Fund at the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation. All welcome; admission is free.
