Initiated by the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) in 2003, ArtCares is a fund raiser benefiting the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Born out of the awareness of the devastating impact the AIDS epidemic has had on the world of art, and out of a consequent awareness that artists can contribute to the fight against HIV/AIDS, ArtCares celebrates contemporary art by providing opportunities to bid on original works in a variety of media, while enjoying wine and savories at an elegant reception held at the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Holding ArtCares at the AIDS Taskforce offices allows our guests the opportunity to see exactly where their contributions are going, as all proceeds from the event directly support the AIDS Taskforce.

The event includes several components: a private reception for VIP guests will proceed ArtCares, a silent auction of works by CIA students, and a live action of works generously contributed by CIA faculty, alumni, and from artists around northeast Ohio, the state and the country. Many contributing artists and students will be present for the event, and will be available to comment on their art. All of the artists have graciously donated their work to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
