The Civil War occurred one hundred and fifty years ago. America was changing culturally and so were the arts. With this exhibition the museum has chosen to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War. The significance of art during the Civil War is noteworthy as the war occurred at a time when there was great change in the American culture and the role of the visual arts.
