On November 4, 1979 militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 hostages. But, in the midst of the chaos, six manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador where a CIA exfiltration specialist named Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck, who also directs) comes up with an incredible plan to get them safely out of the country. The Guardian says ‘No big prizes for working out why Argo won the Oscar for best picture… It is a superb movie – clever, witty, beautifully paced, brilliantly acted, exciting, suspenseful, characterful’.
