“Are Children’s Books Just for Kids?” is a public presentation about the parenting and life lessons that abound in contemporary children’s literature. In “Chrysanthemum” by Kevin Henkes, a young mouse deals with suddenly being made fun of at school. How she, her parents, and teacher handle the situation and the lesson it teaches will be explored. Other such children’s books that offer a clear perception of what does and doesn’t work in child rearing will be discussed, and topics such as recognizing and confronting the emotional destructiveness of bullying, by both children and adults, will be addressed. Presented by board-certified psychiatrist Howard Chavis, M.D. as part of a series of talks sponsored by the American College of Orgonomy, the event will take place on Saturday, April 2nd at the Princeton University Friend Center on the corner of Olden Avenue and Williams Street in Princeton, NJ from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Admission is free due to underwriting support. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Refreshments will be served.
