We are at a time where a new paradigm for application development is taking hold. Traditionally, developers created computer programs that ran on top of computer operating systems, such as DOS, Windows, Mac, Unix/Linux and mainframes. Then, along with the Internet, came web applications written on top of application servers such as CGI, Cold Fusion, PHP, JSP, ASP.NET and recently RoR. All of these programs and web applications require a programmer who knows how to write computer code to create the features desired for the application. Now, a new generation of platforms are emerging that help companies better connect people, processes, and information to drive business results. Bloggers can add donate buttons, Myspace users can list their favorite bands, a wiki user can create a new wiki page; and to do this no knowledge of programming is required at all. The average user can add power features to their applications themselves. The SDForum Application Platform Conference will explore these new application paradigms, the new resources available, and the users who are creating them. Join us as we take an in-depth technical look of various new platforms and business opportunities.

Why should you care?

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the strategic issues surrounding today and tomorrow's market. You will have an opportunity to meet start-up teams and get a clear view of the technology landscape and the competitive landscape. Users are demanding more control over their work environment. New applications will to be developed on these new platforms. Ride the wave or crash!
