PlayWright: David Horsbrugh Dir: Deepthy Shekhar

The play Apakaari is a translation of David Horsbrugh’s play for children, The Ungrateful Man.

Set as a journey between a village in South India and Varanasi, this play revolves around the life of Yagnamurthy, a poor Brahmin who sets out into the forest in a quest for fortune.
In the forest, interesting turn of events result in him rescuing a tiger, a snake, a monkey and finally a man, an evil man called Suvarnaka. What follows is the way Yagnamurthy's search for fortune turns into an adventure involving a princess, a prince, the dungeon and finally some play acting.
