Presented as part of Angel City Jazz Festival: Artists and Legends
Co-presented with The Jazz Bakery

Music titan Jim Keltner—“the leading session drummer in America”— anchors this spirited guitar-organ-drums trio. Famous for his unmistakable sound, touch and groove on songs from John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” to Bob Dylan’s epic “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” among countless collaborations with a who’s who of pop and rock, Keltner teams here with two of today’s most creative jazz players, guitarist Anthony Wilson and organist Larry Goldings—both 35 years his junior—to bring a fresh spirit of play and possibility to the trio format. Wilson has been a longtime member of Diana Krall’s quartet, and has played and recorded with artists from Bobby Hutcherson to Willie Nelson to Leon Russell; Goldings has collaborated with the likes of Maceo Parker, Pat Metheny, Jim Hall and, not least, James Taylor.

Preceded at 7:30 pm by “Honoring and Breaking with Lineage,” a symposium moderated by journalist Greg Burk and featuring, among others, the great trumpeter, composer and educator Bobby Bradford.
