Examining concepts and philosophies of beauty throughout western history, artist Annie Kyle is questioning who or what determines what is beautiful. Her multimedia paintings explore feminine beauty and nature, natural appearances perverting into artifice, and how narcissism leads to a hyper-awareness of mortality. Kyle creates a visual discourse about issues of beauty and spectacle – the Imaginary and the Real – through adorning and covering up the faces of her iconic yet vulnerable female nudes.

Annie Kyle is a working artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Recent exhibitions this year include NYU Berlin Art MA Exhibition at Autocenter, Berlin, Germany, Guild of the Black Eagle 5 at Fuse Gallery, New York, Hey Beautiful! at Amos Eno Gallery, Brooklyn, New York.
