Although it is often experienced as a negative and hurtful emotion, anger is basic to the human experience. Anger is essential to our survival, and without it we can easily lose our sense of what we want or need to be happy and safe. But anger can also cause pain and incite violence. Indeed, the ability to recognize and direct anger, without becoming aggressive, is vital to the success of all relationships. Clinical psychologist Roberta Diddel will explore the nature of anger and discuss concepts and techniques for recognizing and using feelings of anger productively, making it work for and not against us.
