Irvine is one of the great Irish singers. His voice is one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He is a founding member of two groundbreaking groups, Sweeney’s Men and Planxty. Both groups have inspired Irish traditional music makers for a generation. This would be achievement enough for most, but since, Irvine has created THE Irish super group Patrick Street, and the Pan-European group Mosaic. Irvine is a world music pioneer and icon for traditional music and musicians.
