Andrea Dezso, a New York-based visual artist and writer, was born in Romania. Her work incorporates stories of her life, her family members living and dead, and also her native country's folklore as conveyed by her mother. Animals, fantasies, fears, phobias, and interplanetary travel - all humorously play out in her vast output in different media, such as embroidery, ceramics, animation, tunnel and carousel books, and installation. For her project at The Aldrich, Dezso will create a site-specific, multimedia installation on the windows of the Museum's historic Main Street building; inspired by Ridgefield's haunted mansions and their stories. Based in her skilled draftsmanship and traditional craft, the installation will take the form of a giant tunnel book, created by a series of cut-out panels that will reveal the narrative through multiple layers.
