Anaphora will present their Contemporary Series #4 on Monday, April 27 at 7PM at the Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park. Curated by Anaphora's Composer-in-Residence, this concert will feature improv-inspired works from Chicago Composers! This is also the 12th performance in Anaphora's inaugural 2008-2009 season. A pre-concert reception and Meet & Greet will be held from 6PM-7PM.

Using minimalist and process works as a loose theme, the evening will feature the **World Premiere** of Olivia Block's "Stupid Afternoon." The concert program will also include Sarah J. Ritch's "400 g for Violin and CD," Steve Reich's "Music for Pieces of Wood" and a solo Piano performance by Composer George Flynn. Admission is $10 and will be reduced to $5 with a valid Student ID. Formed in May 2008, the Chicago-based ensemble Anaphora is dedicated to performing, developing and enhancing classical and contemporary music alike. Anaphora showcases performance-focused artists through unique programming in a variety of venues. Anaphora encourages its performers to nurture the synergy between modern stage performance and the art-music establishment. Anaphora exists to bring musical classics into this age, to fuse the fresh with the familiar and to convey one coherent statement about the music of our time.

ABOUT CHOPIN THEATRE
Chopin Theatre is an independent arts center located in Wicker Park, Chicago’s artistic neighborhood. Established in 1990, Chopin has held over 7,000 presentations (5,000 theatrical, 900 film, 800 literary evenings and over 100 music, dance, visual arts and social events). Chopin Theatre has also produced over 110 of its own productions, mostly Eastern European, and has hosted performers from every state in the U.S. and from over 40 countries. Built in 1918 by M.F. Strunch Architects as a 987 seat theatre, today it houses a Main Stage, Cabaret Studio, the Nelson Algren Café, East Wing Art Gallery and the office/residence of owners Zygmunt Dyrkacz and Lela Headd along with their sons Conrad, Alexander, Martin and Christopher.
