An instant musical?

It’s a Christmas miracle… for only TWO more weeks!

What would the holiday season be without song? Grim, that’s what. Audience favorite, iMusical: The Improvised Musical returns this month to bring the song, and save us from grimness with An iMusical Christmas! Performances run 9:30PM Friday the 19th and 26th, as well as 2PM Saturday the 20th and 27th. All shows at Source on 14th and T Streets NW.

The often-irreverent cast of singer-improvisers will explore life in the December holiday season through completely improvised songs
and scenes, inspired by audience suggestion. The troupe will build a winter-theme musical sure to get you through the long dark days of greedy shoppers, nagging children, hollow culture wars and donation-guilting better than any mug of mulled wine ever could. Consider it the Christmas special Andy Williams would have never deigned produce.

The Washington Post has called iMusical "amusing," "gleefully vulgar" and "spot on,” and DCTheatreScene.com labeled the players “improv geniuses.” The show has performed to standing ovations in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Local appearances have included the DC Comedy Festival and the Kennedy Center. This winter popular demand brings them back to the U Street corridor’s Source Theater for their 7th run to roast the Holidays. Tickets may be purchased at www.imusical.org, or by calling the WIT box office at 202.204.7770.

Under the direction and accompaniment of Travis Ploeger, nine-year music director of New York’s renowned “Chicago City Limits,” iMusical promises to again pair the melodic and emotional impact of musical theater with the spontaneous fun of improvised comedy; this time with a pinch of nutmeg.
