A GREAT EVENING OF SOULFUL MUSIC, CAPOEIRA, AND ART

Friday, April 9th, the "Casa de Cultura" will be hosting a benefit concert with the "D NO TRIO", featuring the extraordinary singer Destani Wolf and members of Delta Nove. They will be joined by the world music stylings of DJ Jose Ruiz.

All proceeds will go to the Projeto Kirimure, a non-profit program designed to enrich the lives of at-risk youth in Bahia, Brazil through Capoeira, literacy classes, and more.

Destani Wolf's voice is a thing of wonder: a big, bold, beautiful voice. "Again and Again..." her first venture as a solo artist, reveals a powerful, determined woman spreading her words of strength. Driven by her vocal valor, her uplifting lyrics glide over slabs of funk and soul, and tasty grooves punctuated with the Latin, reggae and hip-hop music she loves.

Destani has infused her vocals and arrangements internationally with those of countless others, including Bay Area urban latin hip-hop band, AguaLibre (formerly of O-Maya voted Best of the Bay- SF Weekly), Crown City Rockers, as NY's HOT 97's "Who's Next" event, with world-renowned musician John Santos ("SF BAY" Grammy nominated album), SLAMMIN all body band, A cappella band, SoVoSo, Bobby Mcferrin's offshoot, The Pharcyde and more.

Delta Nove (delta novay) is a national touring band from Long Beach, California. Originally started while attending CSULB, original members included Bobby Easton, Rob Covacevich, and Destani Wolf. The band plays what they call "world funk," deep and heavy funk grooves, a thunderous array of percussion, catchy songs, and a celebration of life like you're at Brazilian Carnaval and New Orleans Mardi Gras all at the same time.
