An Artist Hijacks the Biochemistry of Life October 21, 2008

Through contemporary art, historical artifacts, and large-scale models, Molecules That Matter showcases ten organic molecules that profoundly altered modern life. In conjunction with this fascinating exhibition, five speakers—all leaders in their fields—will address the science in everyday experiences and the promise and peril of discovery and innovation.

Chrissy Conant, a New York-based artist whose 2002 project, "Chrissy Caviar," is featured in Molecules That Matter, presents “An Artist Hijacks the Biochemistry of Life.” Conant’s exhibition history includes shows at the New York Academy of Sciences, the Weatherspoon Art Museum, the DeCordova Museum, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, and Le Lieu Unique. Doors open at 5 p.m. Lecture begins at 6 p.m. Reception begins at 7 p.m. Guests will be able to view the Molecules That Matter exhibition prior to and following the lecture.
