Visitors can celebrate the week of the summer solstice by taking a three-hour cruise on the Hudson to learn about the geology and history that shaped the Hudson Valley. This year’s trip heads north on the Hudson River towards the Tappan Zee Bridge and then back to the city, with a discussion of geologic history, the ebb and flow of the Hudson River, and some of Washington Irving’s descriptions of Dutch life of the valley.
Sidney Horenstein has led cruises and field trips around New York’s waterways and taught geology and natural history courses at the Museum.
