Tired of shopping for gifts that suck? Sick of getting stuck in mall parking lots with homicidal shoppers hell-bent on bumming your holiday high? F*#% that! This holiday season, try some-thing new, something cool, something different…like the fourth annual ALTERNATIVE HOLI-DAY BOOK BAZAAR, Saturday, December 8th, 6-9 pm at Wax Poetic Gallery in Burbank. It’s a party where you can hobnob with amazing writers and artists, and get your holiday shopping out of the way…cheap! The worst-case scenario? You get buzzed on free booze! The best-case scenario? You pick up personally autographed books for your pals, who will then think you’re hip and connected. There’s no admission price; the event is free and open to the public.

Organized by local writers Rob Cohen & David Wollock (Etiquette For Outlaws, Been There, Done That!), THE ALT HOLIDAY BOOK BAZAAR offers shoppers a chance to meet actual authors who will be on hand to personally sign their work.

“It’s nice to give and get gifts that are personal,” says Cohen. “And after hitting up a few friends for autographed copies of their books to use as presents, we concocted this event. It gets bigger and bigger every year.”

This year, Cohen & Wollock are joined by authors representing publishing houses big and small, including Jeannie Long & Michele Alexander (How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days), The Choida Brothers (Alien Xmas), Jeffrey Scott (Visions From Within The Mechanism), Zach & Larry Arnstein (The Ultimate Counterterrorist Home Companion), Michael Lent (Christmas Letters from Hell), S.A. Griffin (Numbskull Sutra), Christopher Noxin (Rejuvenile), Kristy Kane (Tales of the Sisters Kane), Ruben Martinez (The Afterlife), Seth Grahame-Smith (The Big Book of Porn), Mike the Poet (I Am Alive in Los Angeles), Robert Rhine (Satan Gone Wild), Jason Leopold (News Junkie), Ted Meyer (The Butt Hello), Rob Cohen & David Wollock (Etiquette for Outlaws), Pam Ward (Want Some, Get Some), Alex Austin (The Perfume Factory), Justin Jorgensen (Obscene Interiors), Barbra Horowitz (Closet Control), Steven Kurtz (Steve’s America), Fitzgerald (The Unholy Three), Ruthie Ellenson (The Modern Jewish Girls Guide To Guilt), Tobias Deehan (The Imposter), Brian Townsley (Badinfinity), Shawna Kenney (I Was A Teenage Dominatrix), Frank Dietz (My Favorite Sketchy Things), Karren Harryman (Auto Mechanic’s Daughter), Melissa Hensecker (Use This Book!), and Tom Reynolds (I Hate My-self and Want To Die: The 52 Most Depressing Songs You’ve Ever Heard).

The event will also feature free drinks, and live DJs doing Xmas “mash-ups.” Admission is FREE. Wax Poetic is located at 3208 West Magnolia, Burbank. Store number is (818) 843-9469, or visit www.WaxPoeticGallery.com OR www.AltBookBazaar.com.
