CLASSICAL INDIAN KATHAK DANCE WITH ALPANA SENGUPTA DANCE COMPANY

Alpana Sengupta is a brilliant specialist of the vivid and mesmerizing Kathak style of Indian classical dance. She has been a leading pioneer in raising the awareness of Indian dance throughout Britain. In constant demand as a performer and choreographer she works tirelessly to bring Indian dance to an ever increasingly widening audience. Alpana’s performances have been described as breathtaking and magical but above all, entertaining and fun. Kathak is arguably the most exhilarating and accessible of Indian classical dance forms and Alpana is noted for her dynamic presentations of the rhythmic aspects of the dance as well as for her mastery over mime. Alpana will perform in a traditional manner which requires the creation of spontaneous dance on the stage in front of an audience involving a great deal of skilful improvisation accompanied by live music. The programme will also contain choreographed group dances presented by Alpana and members of her dance company.
