ALMA NYC celebrates CARNAVAL on Friday, Feb. 15th February 15, 2008

Carnaval is the biggest party in the world! But if you can’t make it to Brazil, or are fortunate enough to have just returned, come to ALMA for an incredible night of Brazilian music, culture and dancing. In celebration of their favorite time of year, the sultry new monthly “Beleza” will be lending a hand in the festivities combining their energy for one surefire event.

Created by Mirlet Auguste, Jennifer Latog and Sabia Piniero, Beleza is a monthly event introducing the sexy, funky and vibrant rhythms of world music centering on the Brazilian musical roots of Samba and Forro. Housed in chic and intimate lounges throughout NYC, Beleza has been a destination for pulsing live music and contagious dance vibes. Expect that live element to be in full effect at this very special party with a guest set by DJ David Medina.

Also bringing the usual bottom heavy beats on Sullivan Room’s totally revamped sound system will be resident DJs True and Miller Cruz with that extra carnaval edge for the night. Joann Jimenez and Manchildblack will be hosting with noise-makers, beads, masks, and all that is carnaval, all over the world, all in one night. Making it truly “Beleza” at “ALMA”, you don’t want to miss it.
