While playing drums with Karl Denson’s Tiny Uninverse in 1998, Alan Evans was inspired to start a new band and immediately called his brother Neal. Soulive was born in March of 1999. With the third member, guitarist Eric Krasno finally in place Soulive began an amazing journey across the world that is still going strong today. Over the past 13 years Alan Evans has honed his skills as a recording engineer, producer, guitarist, vocalist and writer. Armed with an abundance of newly inspired songs, Alan has decided to start a new band in a lineup he thrives in, the organ trio.

Soulive drummer Alan Evans has confirmed a series of East Coast and Midwest dates for his new trio. He is best known for playing drums in Soulive – a band he founded and that has toured the world over and again. He has shared the stage with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Chaka Khan, from Dave Matthews to John Scofield. Evans, guitarist Danny Mayer and organist Beau Sasser kick off their outing at Burlington, VT’s Club Metronome on April 24 and bring things to a close at Boston’s TT The Bears on May 13. Alan Evans Trio is touring in support of their new album Drop Hop, which releases on April 13.

Alan Evans Trio performs in Roanoke VA at Martins Downtown on Friday April 27 with very special guest Sol & Funk Root opening the show! Sol & Funk Root is an official Home Grown Music Network band.

Sol is a fierce guitarist and soulful singer who has performed around the world with roots and r&b legends, and creates a unique mix of funk, blues, rock. His CD Freedom includes musicians that that toured with Jah Works, Corey Harris, Ana Popovic, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Hobex, and more.
