Irish Ceili dancing, just for fun. Every Monday evening, from 8-11:00. 1402 Park Street, Alameda. $5 each.

We start with a lesson from 8-9:00 p.m., then there's open dancing from 9-11:00 p.m. The lesson is divided into two experience levels. Open dancing begins with a waltz, then there is a dance for everyone that is taught then called to the group during the dance, then there is a dance for more advanced dancers. This pattern - waltz, dance for everyone, dance for those who know - is repeated for the 2 hours after the lesson.

Wear lightweight clothing and comfortable, flexible shoes - dance sneakers are ideal, if you've got 'em. Most styles of Pumas are also excellent. (This kind of dancing is difficult in heels... and sandals might go flying all over the room!)

Come on out! All ages (generally about 16-60), all sizes. Beginners very much welcome and encouraged.
